Ifeyinwa Arinze is a filmmaker from Nigeria, based in New York. Named a 2025 Berlinale Talent, her work has been supported by organizations such as BAFTA, the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the Film at Lincoln Center. Her latest fiction short film, Breastmilk, an adaptation, premiered at the 2025 Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival. It went on to win the Jury Award for Student Short Film at Aspen Shortsfest and Best Student U.S. Short award at Palm Springs. Her previous film, August Visitor, was acquired by The Criterion Channel. Ifeyinwa is currently developing her debut feature film, Scruples, which was selected for the 2025 Berlinale Talents Script Station and the 2024 Cine Qua Non Script Revision Lab. Ifeyinwa holds an MFA degree from the NYU Tisch Graduate Film program and is a 2024 Princess Grace Award winner.

At a formerly prestigious girls boarding school in Nigeria, where older girls are in charge, Adanna struggles to find her footing as a transfer student. When she becomes enamored with Nkechi, the school’s beguiling head girl, Adanna embraces darker parts of herself until a near-death experience causes her to grapple with who she has become.
My hope for the Locarno Residency is to meet potential collaborators for my project, expand my filmmaking community, and receive practical advice on how to advance my film's development.
